Brothers and Sisters, please submit a penalty claim if you are called off the NZ021 RE80 pool to work a trip that requires you to operate on the Belvidere Subdivision. It is the Organizations position that this is outside the geographical limits that this pool is bulletined to operate. The NZ021 RE80 pool is bulletined to operate between Proviso and Clinton. When operating in the Chicago Terminal Complex limits, the pool can be directed to receive/leave their train at any location, but a penalty occurs when operating outside the CTC limits. The CTC is defined as MP 41 on the Kenosha Sub, to MP 41 on the Geneva Sub, continuing parallel with the EJ&E line south (pg. 270 Blue Book)…

Also, if called to operate to Belvidere you should request to take a meal on the Belvidere Sub. This should be requested before you depart, it can be done on the phone or radio and if granted should be taken on the Belvidere Sub. There is no trip rate established for this run and there is no interdivisional service, Rule 57 in the yellow book applies.

So, if you are called to work off the NZ021 RE80 pool and operate outside of these boundaries between Proviso and Clinton, a penalty occurs for operating outside the geographical limits of your assignment, and if a meal is properly requested and denied another penalty occurs. The Claim wording for each can be found in the “Claims” section on our website.
