6.5 rules application
The first line:
“Equipment must not be shoved until the engineer and the employee protecting the movement have completed a job briefing concerning how protection will be provided.”
Do not allow the Conductor in the locomotive to handle the radio during a shove move.
Another item of 6.5:
Electronic Rules, Bulletins And Timetables
“Participating crew members must not engage in unrelated tasks while making a shoving movement.”
This would include talking to a Yardmaster, Dispatcher, Manager or anyone else not involved with the shove move. If the conversation can wait, do not respond until safe to do so, if a response is required immediately, Stop the move, Then respond.
